As I'm steadily expanding the site, you will notice the symbol shown here (right), either on the window title
or in thetext body itself. The symbol shows that there is an RSS feed available for you.
If you've been living on the moon for the past 10 years in a cave with your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears, then
RSS is a way of "pulling" information from a website, without having to use your browser to go to that site every time you
want to see if anything has changed. For instance, a news headline site will constantly change, but you don't necessarily want
to have to load up a browser and refresh the page. This is where RSS comes in.
Instead, you can use an "RSS Reader" to gather feeds from many sites, and when the information changes, the feeder will
be updated for you. Most modern browsers have a built-in simple RSS reader, but there are other apps around that can arrange
the data to your liking - Google Reader is a good example.
To use it, click on it! On a modern browser, it will be formatted in a way that allows you to read it. What you really
want to do, however, is make a note of the URL address that this has taken you to (or, of course, right-click on the
RSS symbol and copy the link to the clipboard) and put this address into your favorite RSS Reader. It's a piece of very
yummy cake!
The SLAY Radio site has a few set up for you - and look around on this site to find some on here too! The news feed is a good
place to start.
